OK, let’s just go right on ahead and address the elephant in the room before I encourage you to read the full blog.

Yep, I fully recognize that I’m a copywriter, so my take here on copywriting is (pretty much automatically) going to sound biased. I get that! But I also want you to understand that I get why investing in a copywriter (especially if you’ve never worked with one before) can feel like a tough sell.

Hiring a copywriter or content writer (and yes, they’re different!) will undoubtedly cost you money. And because it costs money, you probably think it’s stealing lil bits away from the budget you’ve allocated for other things–like customer acquisition, client retention, customer service strategies, etc.

Here’s the thing–copywriting is an investment that helps you with all of those things on your list.

The reality is that strategic content written in your brand’s voice is going to resonate better with your target audience. It also can provide valuable touch points, offer insights, and create stronger connections with your audience, too.

Investing in your business in a way that doesn’t feel like you’re investing directly into your customers can be a challenge.

As a business owner myself, I definitely understand bridging that gap and trying to wrap my head around spending more money on something that I can’t visualize helping.

But here’s the thing–investing in your business is investing in your clients.

Professional copywriting that’s consistent, strategic, and true to your brand’s voice is the missing piece of your communication puzzle.

When you choose to invest in how you talk to your clients–you’re choosing your clients.

Hiring a Copywriting Pro Helps You Reach Your Audience: Here's How

You'll Create Authentic & Meaningful Connections

Skilled copywriters and content writers know what they’re doing–that means they’ll know what to say (and how to say it) to create and strengthen connections with your dream people. Trained copywriters should have the expertise (and the experience!) needed to help you reach your audience, provide them with valuable information, and talk to them in a way that resonates with them.

They get extra bonus points if they bring experience specific to your industry to the table, too.

Copywriters don’t just know how to generate traffic and wrangle organic content (though they should know how to do these things)–they also know how to build trust with your audience, promote brand loyalty, increase brand awareness, and be a reliable source of information for your customers.

Save You Time to Focus on Doing What You Do Best

Could you write great copy or content for your business? Totally. You’re 100% capable of doing that (and that’s something I genuinely believe–often, the best person to write your copy IS you).

Do you have time to do that and do everything else for your business? It depends. As a business owner or content manager, you have a lot of different jobs–and we’re willing to bet you don’t have time to write every lil piece of content your brand puts out there.

And if that’s what you’re currently trying to do, then you probably don’t need us to tell you how time-consuming it is.

Here’s the harsh truth. Every second you spend writing content is a second you can’t dedicate elsewhere. Instead of spending three hours writing a blog for your site, you could spend three hours working directly with customers, auditing and adjusting your current offer, tweaking little bits and pieces of your next launch strategy, or doing a lil backend work on your business.

It’s not about your ability to write–it’s about how much your time is worth. If you didn’t sign up to write brand content as part of your job, your talents and skills are better served in the areas of your expertise. Leave the content writing and copywriting to the writing professionals so you can focus on what you’re best at.

Attracts New Members of Your Ideal Audience

You know who your ideal audience is. You might have a few customers who are the perfect picture of that audience. And you know there are more of them out there. But how do you find them?

Tailoring your customer service, website, and marketing strategies toward your dream people is just good business sense. Right?

That old adage, “You can’t be everything for everybody,” rings true for a reason. As a business, you’re not trying to snag every consumer who comes your way–you’re trying to snag your ideal consumer (and at Boundless, we call that person your dream client).

Finding these consumers isn’t always a walk in the park–but a skilled copywriter or content writer can help you on this journey. Copywriters know how to talk to your ideal audience, they know what they’re looking for, and they know how to hook them.

Content marketing is a big deal in digital marketing.

Consistently publishing new, relevant, and branded content (like on your blog or on your social media platforms) is highly effective when it comes to acquiring new customers–3x more effective than traditional marketing efforts.

Why? Because an aggressive content marketing campaign (run by a competent copywriter) shows that you’re relevant, engaged in the industry, and a go-to resource. You can prove yourself as your industry’s authority, promote brand loyalty, and establish stronger connections with your target audience.

Keeps Your Audience Interested

Retention, retention, retention. You know as well as we do that it’s not enough to just grab customer attention–you want to keep it forever. That’s what really good copywriting and content writing are designed to do. How, exactly?

You write things that are valuable, relevant, and important to them–in a voice that resonates with them.

If that feels overwhelming and you’re not sure how to accomplish it, that’s OK. Highly trained, engaging copywriters (hi, it’s us) know how to do this for you. In other words, it might be time to hire a copywriter or content writer to take this burden off your shoulders.

Creates a Consistent Customer Experience

Writing copy in your brand voice (that reaches your audience) isn’t a one-and-done kind of thing.

Once you’ve established your brand voice, you need to use it at every turn to empower your communication and create a consistent customer experience. In other words, if you’ve got a casual, relaxed brand voice that’s coming across on your website, but your social media captions and your email marketing campaigns are stiff and boring, something is amiss–and your customers are going to be confused.

Hiring copywriters isn’t just about mastering your brand voice; it’s about keeping it present every step of the way. It’s their job to ensure continuity and create a smooth customer experience. And if you’ve got inconsistencies throughout your brand’s content, that’s complicating things for your customers.

Positive customer experiences promote loyalty because they make your brand relatable to your target audience. Consistent brand voice is a big part of creating that “relatable space” and cementing a company’s identity to an audience.

Some data even suggest that consistent branding across all channels–that includes digital content like your blog, social media captions, email marketing, etc.–can increase a company’s revenue anywhere from 10-20 percent.

In our opinion, it’s impossible to offer your customers a smooth and enjoyable experience without having a consistent brand voice. If you sound different at every touchpoint, they’re going to be confused–and being confused never goes hand in hand with a seamless customer experience.

Strategically Encourages Customer Action

Good copywriting sounds nice flows well and speaks expertly in your brand’s unique lil voice.

Great copywriting does all of that while encouraging customers to take action.

Copywriting and content writing have a unique place in a company’s sales funnel–rather, the journey a customer takes when interacting with a company.

Great copywriting is going to be the thing that nudges customers along from the beginning of the funnel (Awareness) all the way to the end of the funnel (Action).

The steps in between–like Interest and Decision–are also riddled with strategic, branded content to help guide a customer toward action.

But consumers are smart. They know when they’re being pushed. And when customers read words that are shoving them toward making a purchase without providing them with value or creating a relationship, they’ll probably ditch that funnel as fast as they accidentally fell into it.

If you want to usher your customers down your sales funnel effectively, a copywriter can help you do that.
